What are the positive impacts in the region?
Sustainable Travels is a local travel agency, that only partner with other small local businesses. So, by travelling with us, you are empowering these small local businesses. Like this the money you spend on your vacations stays in the region, instead going to big groups or international corporations. All regional economies benefit from this as it will help create new jobs, generate more profit and value traditions.
At an environmental perspective, all partners meet some sustainability standards. Rural hotels and guesthouses take action to mitigate their negative impacts, such as: use of green energies, water saving actions, plantation of native flora species, biological agriculture, among others.
Animation companies also respect nature and wildlife. Athought clean transport is not always possible they often donate for conservation projects.
Cultural aspects are always present, as they are important to maintain local identity and traditions. We make partnerships with companies promoting gastronomy, traditional arts, traditional ways of living and agriculture.
But we go even further, when it comes to benefit local communities and protect local biodiversity. For every tour you book with us we donate to local non-profit organizations ( social and environmental ).
Do you only work with small local business?
Yes, we do not compromise this aspect! All parterns are small companies based in the Algarve. By doing this we make sure the money stays in the region and empower local enterpreneurs.
